We challenge you to find a better or more worthy local cause to support
|
|
Putting something practical back into our community is a logical next step - an attractive thought, but not easy because you many not have spare time, and the choices for financial support are many. A local cause to be proud of
However, you don't have to look further than the Stroud & District Citizens Advice Bureau to find an organisation that is doing a huge amount of vital good work among those who need it most. And it is entirely dependent on voluntary support from the local authority, parish councils and some other organisations, and on contributions from local businesses and individuals. It is highly efficient
There are 108,000 people living in the area served by the Bureau and last year more than 3,600 people came to see us for advice; we handled nearly 10,000 issues, all of which were dealt with efficiently and compassionately by our six paid staff supported by some 35 trained volunteers. The sheer amount of help given - and the consistent quality of advice provided - is very impressive. But strapped by its own success
Fuelled by our achievements the number of queries and their complexity is continuing to increase. And if our standards are to be maintained this must mean more advisers and more floor space. Which means more money. We can't expect the Council to put their hands in their pockets whenever we need more; so the contributions from individuals and businesses become absolutely vital. What you can do - now
With a few strokes of the pen and clicks on the keyboard, you could become a sponsor of the Stroud & District Citizens Advice Bureau. Sending us a standing order, for as much as you feel comfortable with, would mean you have joined this wonderful team and helped build the regular income on which we depend. We are looking for 400 individuals who will pledge us £5 per month, or 1,000 who could manage £25 a year. Or click on the Virgin Money Giving link and give online. Every donation, however small is hugely appreciated. Thank you for your help. |
